I have real commercial experience and many successes in leading both small (< 10 people) and very large businesses (> 1000 people) in highly competitive industries such as banking and finance, rural supplies and motor vehicle importing, retailing, servicing and financing.
I had 5 years leading the Agribusiness arm of BNZ followed by 8 years leading the Business Banking arm of BNZ including Small Business, Medium/Large Business, International Trade, Property & Plant and Machinery Finance and Private Banking. I also had 2 years leading the customer facing units of PGG Wrightson post the GFC and two years running Finance Companies on contract.
I have a proven track record at GM and CEO level of leading and growing businesses in highly competitive environments.
I am now an experienced independent director and or advisory board member of 9 companies and also act as a Business Coach and Mentor. For the last 15 years I have been an independent director of various companies spanning funds management, insurance, electronic transactions, mortgage broking, wool, dairy/sheep/beef/crop farming, consumer finance, rural banking, business banking, retail banking and motor vehicle importing, selling, servicing and finance.
I have a very keen desire to assist businesses grow. I started and drove “education growth programmes” for owner managers in both the Rural and Commercial Business sectors for over 20 years. I was a founding director and trustee of The Icehouse – a re-known business incubator and business growth facilitator.
Raised in provincial New Zealand, my qualifications include an Agricultural Science degree and Post Grad Diploma in Banking. I am a qualified Valuer, Senior Fellow of FINSIA and a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors.
My approach as a Director is to assist businesses develop and achieve their purpose, strategy, goals and tactics. To also see that there is an effective governance culture in place and that management stays on track.
